One Dead, One Hospitalized Following Three-Vehicle Wreck Involving Bus on I-87 Near Albany

A college lacrosse team traveling by passenger bus to a game near New York City was recently involved in a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 87 in Clifton Park that killed one person and left another critically injured. The crash reportedly occurred in the rain approximately 20 miles north of Albany. According to the bus driver, Bob Urban, a Porsche lost control after passing the vehicle as it carried the St. Michael's College lacrosse team south. After the sports car began to spin, it apparently slid directly into the path of the bus. Urban stated his attempts to avoid striking the small car were unsuccessful.

Following the collision, the bus reportedly slid off of the roadway on its side. Four of the 38 people riding on the bus were treated for minor injuries. New York State Police said a 64-year-old passenger in the Porsche was killed in the traffic wreck and the 65-year-old driver was hospitalized in critical condition. In addition, a van was also allegedly damaged in the crash. Police stated the driver of the van was unharmed.
